Why giving is so important…
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
“Anytime we help someone else, ultimately we help ourselves, because we get back from the world, what we put in to it.”

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10
Just imagine a time in your life when you needed help and no one was there for you. If you’ve been fortunate enough to have people give you a hand up, then imagine what your life would have been like, if those people did not step forward to help in your time of need. For many, there isn’t anyone.
If you would like to do a good thing, help lots of people in the process, and feel really good about it, there are many effective ways for you to make a positive impact. A little can go a long way, to touch the lives of so many who desperately need help. I don’t know about you, but when I do good deeds for others, it makes me feel great inside. I feel as if I’m earning my spot on the planet. I’m doing the right thing in the eyes of God. How could I ever aspire to do more than that.
There are very clear biblical principles that teach us, why we should tithe a portion of our income, to help those in need. I believe, that God rewards those who honor His word, and are good stewards of their money. It is truly impossible for you to out give God. He will bless you in more ways than you may realize. Once God sees that you are a consistent giver, He will open more doors of opportunity for you, so that you will reap a much bigger harvest from the seed you have sewn.
This is why I tithe 10% or more of my income every year, to my local church, as well as other very worthwhile charitable organizations. I know I’m doing the right thing, and that my gifts are making a real difference in thousands of people’s lives.
There are many things we all take for granted every day. Food, shelter, clothing, medical care, just to name a few. The world is huge. And spread out around it are literally millions of people who desperately need help.
Did you know that approximately 14 million children in the U.S. live in poverty where hunger is a daily reality? More than one out of six children lives in a household where they do not know where their next meal will come from.
When disasters strike such as a flood, earthquake, tornado or even a war or conflict, food and emergency supplies are urgently needed. By making even a small donation to great organizations such as Feed The Children, your gift is immediately put to good use where it desperately needed. This 30 year old organization has shipped over 133 million pounds of food and other essentials to to needy children and families in all 50 states and in 34 foreign countries, supplementing more than 760,000 meals a day worldwide. Since 1979 Feed The Children has reached out to help children and families in 119 countries around the world.
A little can go a very long way to help so many who are not as fortunate as you are right now…
CBN WorldReach offers several humanitarian projects to alleviate suffering through relief efforts, cleft lip and palate surgeries, disaster relief, medical services, orphan care and much more. That’s a 10 to 1 return on your charitable investment.
You may not think you are in a financial position to give anything. However, remember this scripture…
“And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44

“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
I’m not here to try and talk you in to doing anything that you don’t feel comfortable with. Giving to charity and helping others is a really personal thing. We each have our own thoughts about it. Today my thoughts aren’t where they were many years ago. Thank God. Today I am much more successful. I believe there is a very clear connection between my tithing and the phenomenal success I continue to experience in life.
I urge you to at least give some serious thought to what I’ve shared with you on this page. It’s easy to step out in faith. It doesn’t require much effort. The rewards are plenty and the great inner peace from knowing you are doing your part to help others is priceless. I hope you can experience it for yourself really soon.
What good deed can you do today?
There are countless things you could do today to help someone else. Remember, God sees what you do. He knows each time you go out of your way to help someone who is less fortunate. Every deed is acknowledged in some way. Sow the seed so God can bless you with a good harvest.
Think about what you can do today or this week in your local community to help others. Call your pastor and ask him where you can lend a helping hand. If you can’t afford to give money, that’s okay. Donate your time instead. A little human interaction goes a very long way. When you care it shows.
“Those who oppress the poor insult their maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor him.” Proverbs 14:31

What it Means to Give by Britt Phillips
Milk does a body good is how the saying goes but I prefer… giving does the soul good. While it is true that milk delivers the calcium to build strong bones, our soul is eternal and that is where our focus should remain.
Many confuse what is actually meant by giving. I think the reason is they most likely have not had very many throughout their life simply give them something with no expectation of anything in return.
The giver in most cases is only concerned with what’s in it for them to give. The recipient is normally hung up on what they are getting and the price that comes along with accepting the gift.
The act of giving in the truest sense of the word really means to give freely without any expected return of any kind. However if you learn to give from your heart in the most sincere form, you will get back more than you could have ever imagined inside.
For me to be able to give means that I am able to share part of my self, my accomplishments, who I am with the universe. It means I can help another who maybe is where I once was before someone came along and helped me by giving.
If you are one of the unfortunate souls not to have had the benefit of a random act of kindness where someone gave to you in some way, then it can be tough to completely appreciate at first why a person would want to give to you so freely.
The easiest way to realize the reason for yourself is to give of yourself freely to help someone else. There are so many opportunities for you to give every day of your life. And also even after death. I’m amazed at how few people stop to realize that after death they do not need their organs. Yet in the world there are countless people clinging to life who desperately hold out hope for a miracle donor to be found in time to save their lives.
The ways in which you give do not have to involve money as most attach to the word. There are countless ways to be kind to another person. We live in a fast paced world indeed but this does not mean we have to get swept up in the pace without taking time to chart our own course as we determine it should be charted.
When I go into a restaurant I find myself looking about the crowd to see just how many actually give to others. The waitress comes over and issues the standard greeting while most people simply say “I’m fine” and that’s the end of it. I on the other hand try and put myself in the shoes of the waitress who greets one table after another with the same lack of sincerity coming from most patrons. I ask myself what I can I do to make the waitress feel a bit better and to lift her up in some way. The answer is very simple, it’s easy, and it takes only seconds to complete. And they are very powerful seconds that the waitress will not forget. And who knows, it could be the most powerful seconds that she needs to help get her through the rest of her shift or perhaps to help her deal with other issues that may be on her mind at the time.
I’m talking about being polite. When the waitress comes over and asks how I am, I immediately look at her name tag and say… Lisa I’m doing great, and how are you doing today? Try this the next time you go out for lunch or dinner and see if you notice a surprised look on the face of the waitress. I’ve even had them tell me I’m the only one in the past week to have taken a moment to ask how they are. And I always get much better service to boot!
For me to give means to help others that I’m fortunate enough to share the planet with. It gives me a feeling that I’m doing something right. And right is good.
You’ve heard do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And how about treat others as you would like to be treated? Have you been treating people in your life as you would like to be treated? Have you taken just a little extra time to be extra nice and to help others when you can with even the smallest, most simplest thing?
When you give you rack up life points. I believe life can be explained in a way in terms of life points. When you want something from life, life looks at how many life points you’ve racked up. If you’ve done lots of good things to help others then life rewards you by giving back to you.
How many life points do you think you have right now? Do you have as many as you think you should have? I challenge you during the next thirty days to try and accumulate as many life points as you possibly can. And after the thirty days, think back at where your life was and see if you can notice any difference as the result of racking up your life points.
